Mike Moreno - Guitarist

Originally from Houston, Texas, Mike began studying music formally at the Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a school renowned for its musical alumni, which includes such luminaries as Jason Moran, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Scott and Eric Harland.

Over the years Mike has toured and performed with The Joshua Redman Elastic Band, Stefon Harris Sonic Creed, Lizz Wright Band, Nicholas Payton Quartet, Me’Shell N’Degeocello, Jason Moran, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Gretchen Parlato, Aaron Parks Quartet, Greg Osby, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra, and Jeff “Tain” Watts.

With his own projects Mike has toured and recorded his original music with high critical acclaim.  Nate Chinen of the New York Times and Jazztimes Magazine describes “There are many other guitarists out there pushing towards a modern ideal, but none with the precise coordinates that Mike Moreno has charted.”

In 2007, Mike released his debut recording as a leader Between The Lines, which Nate Chinen deemed in The New York Times as one of his top 10 Jazz albums of 2007.  He recorded his second and third albums, Third Wish (2008) and First In Mind (2011), for European Jazz label Criss-Cross Records.  Mike returned to producing his records on his own with World Culture Music for Another Way (2012), which was chosen by iTunes for the Best of 2012 list. His most recent recording Lotus was  released at the end of 2015.


Matt Brewer

Since moving to New York in 2001, bassist Matt Brewer has played with some of the most important musicians in the jazz world including Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, Steve Lehman, Aaron Parks, Ben Monder, and many others. He is currently a member of The SF Jazz Collective, Ben Wendel’s Seasons band, and Antonio Sanchez’s group Migration. Originally from Oklahoma City, Matt spent most of his youth in Albuquerque NM where at age 10 he began studying the bass, learning jazz from his father Dr. Paul Brewer (a trombonist/educator) and studying classical bass during the summers at the Interlochen Arts Camp. He later attended high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and afterwards joined the inaugural class of Juilliard’s jazz program. As an educator Matt has frequently lectured at the Banff Center, is an adjunct faculty member at the New School, and is the jazz bass instructor at the San Fransisco Conservatory of Music. He has recorded three albums as a leader- ‘Mythology’, ‘Unspoken’, and ‘Ganymede’.

 

Taylor Eigsti

New York-based pianist and composer Taylor Eigsti started playing the piano when he was four years old. Growing up in Menlo Park, CA, Eigsti was quickly labeled a prodigy, and has since released 7 albums as a bandleader, in addition to appearing on over 50 albums as a sideman. Eigsti has garnered multiple individual GRAMMY Award nominations over the years for his work as a recording artist and composer, including Best Instrumental Composition, and Best Jazz Instrumental Solo. Recently, Eigsti also co-wrote a featured composition with Don Cheadle for the 2017 GRAMMY-winning soundtrack to the motion picture “Miles Ahead”.

                                         

Over the past 30 years, Eigsti has had the good fortune of performing, touring or recording with such luminaries as Dave Brubeck, Chris Botti, Joshua Redman, Sting, John Mayer, Esperanza Spalding, Chick Corea, Terence Blanchard, Joshua Bell, Snarky Puppy, Vanessa Williams, David Benoit, Chris Potter, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Julian Lage, Marian McPartland, Stefon Harris, McCoy Tyner, Lisa Fischer, Joey DeFrancesco, Red Holloway, James Moody, Ernestine Anderson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Becca Stevens, Charles McPherson, The Clayton Brothers, Eldar, Dianne Schuur, Joe Lovano, Ambrose Akinmusire, Hank Jones, The Brubeck Brothers, and Frederica Von Stade, among many others.

                                         

Eigsti has travelled internationally quite extensively with his trio and quartet, and also has been a frequent and integral part of the regular touring bands of Chris Botti, Eric Harland Voyager, Gretchen Parlato, Kendrick Scott Oracle, and Sachal Vasandani. Eigsti's career has involved much global touring, and he has performed at many premiere venues throughout the world, including the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Salle Pleyel, Red Rocks Amphitheater, Royal Festival Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Olympia Hall, Massey Hall, Lincoln Center, Davies Symphony Hall, and many top festivals including Montreal Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Singapore Mosaic Music Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Stockholm Jazz Festival, Istanbul Jazz Festival, Quito Jazz Festival, Jakarta Jazz Festival, Sydney Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, and many more performances worldwide, including a private performance for former President Bill Clinton.

                                         

Eigsti has also been featured numerous times in various television specials, NPR appearances, commercials, and composed the theme music to the motion picture "Detachment" (2011) starring Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, collaborating on the score with the Newton Brothers. This past year, Eigsti was also featured on a television special with Chris Botti for PBS’s “Great Performances”.

                                         

In addition to leading and performing with various small ensembles, Eigsti frequently has had the opportunity to work with, compose for and orchestrate music for various symphony orchestras, and has written an extensive repertoire of music for orchestra and jazz ensemble. Various soloist and compositional features include the San José Chamber Orchestra, Oakland Symphony, New York Philharmonic, New York Pops, Chicago Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Buffalo Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, Boston Youth Symphony, New York Pops, Pittsburgh Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, San Jose Youth Symphony, Golden State Youth Orchestra, Bear Valley Symphony, Tassajara Symphony, Reno Philharmonic and multiple featured collaborations with the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra.

                                         

In January 2020, Eigsti will be releasing his eighth album as a leader (and his first brand new album in 10 years), called “Tree Falls” on GSI Records.
