Olivier Bensa is a player, composer and teacher of classical guitar. Born in Paris in 1951, he is among the best known musicians in the classical guitar world. His recording of ‘Song of the World’ by Léo Brouwer, a great success, was much applauded by the composer and continues to be the reference interpretation. His fame has increased too with the passion inspired by his many compositions for all levels played throughout the world and available through Editions H Lemoine.

Cécile Cardinot is a guitar player, singer and choir director. Born in 1989, she began her concert career with Olivier Bensa then decided to gradually integrate more singing into their concert programme. The public love the purity of her voice and the sensitivity and naturalness of her musical interpretation. Many opportunities then opened to her with traditional, folk and classical songs, leading to her winning the Claude Nougaro competition prize and the ‘Acoustic Guitar Discovery of 2015.’

The Duo Bensa-Cardinot was established in 2008 and gives many concerts in the Lot and beyond. They have recorded two CDs, warmly welcomed by Press and public alike, which have since helped them to pre-eminence in the French classical guitar scene.

The originality in their concert programmes springs from the varying choice of music – for two guitars,  for guitar and voice or for solo guitar with a repertoire comprising almost entirely of original compositions by Olivier Bensa and from their own arrangements.

［关于“弦－139”ABOUT STRING-139］

1723年，作为一名虔诚的基督教徒的巴赫在莱比锡的圣托马斯教堂工作，为其信仰的上帝创作乐曲。巴赫认为，音乐是上帝赐予的圣物，是与上帝对话，通往天堂的云梯。从而坚持每周为上帝创作一组赞美感恩的乐曲，并教授给唱诗班在星期日礼拜和定期的弥撒仪式上唱颂。巴赫希望通过这种反复却不重复的创作来表达对上帝的爱。次年的冬天，巴赫完成了他的第139号赞美诗合唱组曲＂信上帝，得福报＂（Wohl dem, der sich auf seinen Gott，BWV 139）。这首组曲的名字完美地诠释了巴赫怀揣纯粹信仰的一生。

In 1723, J.S. Bach was a Kantor at the St. Thomas Church, Leipzig. It was part of his job to perform a church cantata every Sunday and Holiday, related to the readings prescribed by the Lutheran liturgy for the specific occasion. As a true Christian, Bach preferred to conduct his own cantatas, and he composed a new work every week as part of the church service. Three annual cycles of cantatas have survived.

Bach said, "Music's only purpose should be the glory of God and the recreation of the human spirit." On November 12, 1724, Bach finished his No.139 sacred Cantata "Believe in God, God Blesses" (Wohl dem, der sich auf seinen Gott，BWV 139). The name of this Cantata has perfectly described Bach's pure belief and his commitment in accordance with his belief: a Church Musician.

Although music nowadays has more purposes than just for the glory of God, people have never stopped the searching journey for the true meaning of life, and never stopped praising the spirit of commitment. As time passes by, fashion may have changed into old classy, while humble insistence may have turned out to be great achievements. The classical works, like a mirror from the past, provide those busy persons a true reflection of who they really are.
