故事围绕家庭中的婚姻抉择展开：与姐姐阿尔芒德不同，昂丽叶特渴望与自己选择的恋人走入婚姻殿堂。虽然有父亲的支持，但母亲菲拉曼特却迷信所谓的学识，坚持要将满口辞藻、故作高深的特里索丹招为女婿。作为莫里哀最成熟、最具思想锋芒的喜剧之一，《女学究》以幽默辛辣的笔触，讽刺了盲目崇尚学问与虚伪矫饰的社会风气。

这版制作是意大利先 锋戏剧女导演艾玛·丹特与法兰西喜剧院的首次合作，她善于从寓言性的文本中汲取诗意，游走于荒诞、滑稽与崇高之间，运用夸张的肢体语言、色彩斑斓的舞美和服装设计将剧中人物置于两个世界的碰撞之中——一边是身着假发与古典服饰、象征传统秩序的旧世界，另一边则是追求独立与自由的新女性，两者产生了充满活力与想象力的戏剧性碰撞，也使得莫里哀笔下关于虚荣、权威与女性处境的讽刺与当代观众的关切不谋而合。

Les Femmes Savantes embody the changing social attitudes of Molière's time. Unlike her sister Armande, Henriette dreams of love and wishes to marry Clitandre. While her father Chrysale supports the match, her mother Philaminte seeks to impose the pedant Trissotin upon her, on account of his supposed learning in science and literature…

Emma Dante speaks of an encounter between two worlds: the old world, embodied by men in wigs and period costumes, and the modern world, that of emancipated women. While the former, drawn from a trunk of the past, will slip into fiction, dusted off by the servants, the latter find themselves dominated by ancient codes that strip them of their aura of modernity.
