THE BIG TUSK 是一支来自法国/瑞士的摇滚爵士组合,以独特的艺术方向著称,持续挑战既有音乐范式,在即兴音乐与流行音乐之间横跳。

自2017年起,这支乐队将其千禧一代(Gen-Y)的成长背景转化为充满能量的音乐:迷离的电子律动、粗粝的Grunge能量、以及流行摇滚式的抒情,在高度即兴与丰富的想象力中自然展开。

THE BIG TUSK is a Franco-Swiss musical collective that stands out with a unique artistic direction, challenging conventions and blurring the boundaries between improvised and popular music.

Since 2017, the quartet channels its Gen-Y roots into an electrifying alchemy of hypnotic electro, raw grunge energy, and pop-rock lyricism - all delivered with boundless spontaneity and sonic imagination.

Also inspired by cinematic landscapes (such as the enigmatic and morbid 'Tusk,' where a man dreams of finding the walrus residing in every human being), the BIG TUSK operates as one mythological creature shape-shifting between universes - a living embodiment of their Tuskist ideology, where hierarchy dissolves into harmony. 

 

这个摇滚爵士组合于2024年发布了他们的首张全长专辑 《IT’S ALIVE》,被视为有望为欧洲 nu-jazz 场景注入全新冲击力的作品。

The Franco-Swiss group, the BIG TUSK, releases its debut album "IT'S ALIVE" which promises to shake up the European nu jazz scene.

Six years have passed since their inaugural EP in 2018, and the BIG TUSK finally delivers a gem, a total fusion of influences from their generation (90s) and their free approach stemming from jazz improvisation.

 

专辑中,Techno / Minimal 风格的作品如 Bad Mammuth、Barking、Massive Sunstroke、Morse Code,与 Prog Rock 取向的 Catechism、Halcyon,以及 Trap 风格的 Cardia、Drum’n’Bass 取向的 Tulpamancer、The Ascent 并置共存,却始终保持着高度的整体性。

Some "Techno/Minimal" tracks - Bad Mammuth, Barking, Massive Sunstroke, Morse Code - rub shoulders with "Prog Rock" ones - Catechism, Halcyon - and even "Trap" one - Cardia - or "Drum'n'bass" ones- Tulpamancer, The Ascent - with coherence and naturalness.

 

即兴演奏作为专辑的核心,以集体形式有机地融入每一种美学结构之中。《Cardia》展现了乐手出色的独奏能力,而作为专辑首支单曲的《Bad Mammuth》,无疑具备成为整张作品代表曲目的潜质。令人难忘的合成器旋律线,加上足以征服柏林俱乐部的低频音色,缓慢却极具吸引力的节奏,仿佛一群猛犸象穿越死亡之谷,却毫不自知。

The improvisations, cornerstones of the album, are collective and organically integrated into each aesthetic framework. Cardia also reveals stunning soloistic abilities, while Bad Mammuth, the album's first single, is undoubtedly poised to be the hit of this opus. With a synth riff that will stay in your head forever, and a bass sound worthy of the stickiest clubs in Berlin, its slow but entrancing beat feels like a herd of mammoths crossing the valley of death without even noticing.
