the BIG TUSK 是一支法瑞混合的音乐组合，以独特的艺术方向著称，持续挑战既有音乐范式，在即兴音乐与流行音乐之间模糊边界。

自 2017 年起，这支四人乐队将其千禧一代（Gen-Y）的成长背景转化为充满能量的声音融合：迷离的电子质感、粗粝的 Grunge 能量与流行摇滚式的旋律表达，在高度即兴与丰富的声音想象力中自然展开。 

他们同样受到电影化叙事的启发，例如那部充满谜意与阴郁气质的作品《Tusk》——讲述一个男人梦见在人类内心深处发现海象的故事。the BIG TUSK 以一个“神话生物”的姿态存在，在不同音乐宇宙之间不断变形切换，成为其“Tuskist”理念的具象化呈现：在这里，等级消解，取而代之的是整体的和谐。

这支法瑞组合 the BIG TUSK 近日发布了他们的首张全长专辑 《IT’S ALIVE》，被视为有望为欧洲 nu-jazz 场景注入全新冲击力的作品。

距离 2018 年的首张 EP 已过去六年，the BIG TUSK 终于交出了一张高度成熟且耀眼的专辑，完整融合了 90 年代世代影响与源自爵士即兴的自由创作方式。

专辑中，Techno / Minimal 风格的作品如 Bad Mammuth、Barking、Massive Sunstroke、Morse Code，与 Prog Rock 取向的 Catechism、Halcyon，以及 Trap 风格的 Cardia、Drum’n’Bass 取向的 Tulpamancer、The Ascent 并置共存，却始终保持着高度的整体性与自然流动。

即兴演奏作为专辑的核心支点，以集体形式有机地融入每一种美学结构之中。《Cardia》展现了乐手出色的独奏能力，而作为专辑首支单曲的《Bad Mammuth》，无疑具备成为整张作品代表曲目的潜质。令人难忘的合成器旋律线，加上足以征服柏林俱乐部的低频音色，缓慢却极具吸引力的节奏，仿佛一群猛犸象穿越死亡之谷，却毫不自知。

The Franco-Swiss group, the BIG TUSK, releases its debut album "IT'S ALIVE" which promises to shake up the European nu jazz scene.

Six years have passed since their inaugural EP in 2018, and the BIG TUSK finally delivers a gem, a total fusion of influences from their generation (90s) and their free approach stemming from jazz improvisation.

Some "Techno/Minimal" tracks - Bad Mammuth, Barking, Massive Sunstroke, Morse Code - rub shoulders with "Prog Rock" ones - Catechism, Halcyon - and even "Trap" one - Cardia - or "Drum'n'bass" ones- Tulpamancer, The Ascent - with coherence and naturalness.

The improvisations, cornerstones of the album, are collective and organically integrated into each aesthetic framework.

Cardia also reveals stunning soloistic abilities, while Bad Mammuth, the album's first single, is undoubtedly poised to be the hit of this opus. With a synth riff that will stay in your head forever, and a bass sound worthy of the stickiest clubs in Berlin, its slow but entrancing beat feels like a herd of mammoths crossing the valley of death without even noticing.
