英国奇幻民谣David Thomas Broughton中国巡演 ——07月03日@蘑菇空间

David Thomas Broughton是一个迷样的人，我们对他了解*于：他来自英国的约克郡，工作并生活在首尔。在音乐之外他还有一个奇异的癖好：观察鸟类，并把它们的一举一动用画笔生动的呈现出来。

在他音乐创作中同样充斥着谜团，好像他的思想中存在着两种人格，一个人格创作出纯净和美妙的旋律，另一个人格却不惜任何代价的去阻止另一个人格创造美好的歌曲。他的奇异的风格也是来源于此，一面是民谣的根基，另一面充满实验性。在大卫的现场你应该时刻期待着意料之外的事情会发生，也许是在某一个时刻用Loop Station不断循环自己的声音，又或是用他的吉他和磁带机制造嗡嗡作响的回授，在舞台上与香蕉进行对话。他的现场充满不确定性，无法重现，如你足够的耐心，你定会在某一瞬间理解他的音乐和他要表达的一切，并深深为之所吸引。

现场演出充满不确定性，灵光一现和槽糕的错误只在一线之间，David怪诞的舞台风格和丰富现场演出经验让他有着强大的现场掌控力。自21世纪初在家乡约克郡的几场演出之后，他开始登上各个音乐节的舞台，巡演足迹遍布了英国本土，欧洲大陆，美国。在中国，日本，韩国同样也有过数十场演出的经历。

他用glitches和有意为之的错误在Loop中构建出旋律，随后放任自流，让旋律在对抗中自行瓦解，再悄无声息的进入下一个篇章。他用一种奇异的角度和自嘲的歌唱方式去解读人们的爱与失去。耐心的聆听您定会体验到他歌曲中潜藏的美感和极富幽默感的瞬间。

距离David广受赞誉并在Pitchfork获得8.4分的首张录音室专辑《The Complete Guide to Insufficency》已有10余年之久，David依然充满热情用他交织着美与不安的创作方式继续着创作。

在这10余年间他又持续了发布了很多个人录制的作品，此外还与爵士民谣四重唱团体7Hertz,Stereolab制作人Andy Ramsey,3人合唱团体Juice共同创作了很多歌曲，在他*新的专辑《Crippling Lack》中他同样也邀请到很多音乐人共同参与创作。

David Thomas Broughton is quite the enigma. Somewhat a man of mystery that we know was brought up in Yorkshire and currently resides in Seoul. His talents stretch far beyond music, not only does he enjoy birdwatching but he is also rather good at drawing them, as demonstrated by his impressive display of artwork. 

Musically he is capable of writing folk songs of pure beauty, but then there is another side to him that likes to restrain himself from this, this is his experimental side. When David performs live you should always except the unexpected. He might at any point decide to loop his voice endlessly or use a tape machine to create feedback over his guitar. It’s this unpredictability that makes his live shows a memorable performance. 

He will be bringing his many talents to China for the second time this June and July for a mini tour of Wuhan, Suzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.

Live performances are sometimes unsettling, and feel at risk of everything falling apart. Somehow David remains in control. Since David's first few shows in his native Yorkshire in the early 2000s, he has performed at numerous festivals, toured extensively across the UK, Europe, USA and played a handful of shows in Japan, Korea and China.

His organic approach to loops include all glitches and mistakes...

building pieces to let them destroy themselves, before swiftly moving into the next. On the face of it, a performance of sad self-deprecating songs and extended 'sonic strangeness' pondering the awkwardness of the human condition through the trial of love and loss. For those with patience it can reward with great moments of beauty, and sometimes comedic delight.
